Weather in Uganda
Uganda has an equatorial type of climate with lots of sunshine but the equatorial heat is diluted by the high altitudes seen across most parts of the country. The average temperature in Uganda ranges from 16 °C in the highlands of the southwest to 25 °C in the northwest. Temperatures in the northeast are higher at over 30 °C for most of the year. In the areas around Lake Victoria, daytime temperatures are about 8–10 degrees higher than temperatures during the night. Temperatures in the southwest are about 14 degrees lower.
Rainfall is quite well distributed across the country except for the northeast region, which receives the least amount of rain at about 500 mm per year. South Uganda goes through two rainy seasons – while one begins in early April, the other begins in October. June and December are relatively dry in the south. In the north, the dry months stretch from November to March while there are occasional showers from April to October. The Lake Victoria region receives an average annual rainfall of more than 2,100 mm while the mountains of the southeast and southwest receive an average of more than 1,500 mm of rain annually.
